The executive leadership of the Renewable Natural Resources Students’ Association (RENARSA), University of Ibadan, officially transitioned from Team Providence to Team Frontier during a handover and induction ceremony held on Friday, February 20, 2026, at the New Forestry Building.
Team Providence, led by Israel Oyebanji, formally transferred leadership to Team Frontier under the presidency of Ogunjobi Gift in a ceremony that commenced at about 10:30 a.m. Both outgoing and incoming executives were in attendance, alongside members of staff and faculty representatives.

Among the dignitaries present were Prof. Samuel Olajuyigbe, Head of the Department of Forest Products and Production, who represented the Dean of the Faculty; Dr. Peter Ige of the Department of Social and Environmental Forestry and staff adviser of RENARSA; and Mr. Shatimehin, who represented Prof. Flora Olaifa, Head of the Department of Aquaculture and Fisheries Management and staff adviser of the association.
In his address, Prof. Olajuyigbe commended both the outgoing and incoming executives for their willingness to serve the faculty. He encouraged students to embrace leadership opportunities whenever they arise, whether in religious, social, or political spheres. “Serve and do it well,” he urged.
Mr. Shatimehin, in his remarks, emphasized the importance of synergy in leadership. He expressed concern over political apathy within the faculty and urged the new executives to foster inclusiveness, particularly by actively engaging 100-level students to curb the growing disinterest in faculty politics. He also advised the executives to strike a balance between their academic responsibilities and leadership roles, describing such balance as a hallmark of effective leadership. He concluded by congratulating the outgoing team for their service.
Similarly, Dr. Peter Ige charged the new executives to remain conscious of their responsibilities and to ensure active participation among students in faculty governance. He highlighted the need for political awareness, noting that the incoming executives were unopposed and that some offices remained vacant. He urged the new leadership to promote inclusiveness and broaden engagement within the association.
Team Frontier consists of four executives: Ogunjobi Gift as Faculty President, Egbinola Oluwapelumi as Social Director, Akanji Hamzah as Financial Secretary, and Alawode Boluwatife as General Secretary.

In the farewell speech of the outgoing president : Oyebanji Israel,he encouraged the new executives to be intentional and strategic in planning their tenure to ensure impactful leadership.
The programme was brought to a close with a closing prayer offered by Olanrewaju Oyedijo, the immediate past president of the Renewable Natural Resources Literary and Debating Society (RNRLDS).
The ceremony marked a new chapter in RENARSA’s leadership, with expectations high for Team Frontier as it assumes responsibility for steering the association forward.
