The University of Ibadan Students’ Union (UI’SU) today, Tuesday, June 24, 2025, called for applications for the UI’SU Bursary Scheme.
The scheme is an initiative designed to provide crucial financial assistance to indigent students struggling to meet their academic financial obligations.
The move comes as the university approaches its final deadline for fee payment and course registration, set for Friday, June 27, 2025.
In a significant win for students, the university management, following the union’s intervention, has also confirmed the waiver of all late fee charges for the current academic session.
“… we can confirm that we were able to successfully waive the late fee charge, and as a result, no student will be paying any late fee charge this academic session.” This was made known via a WhatsApp status update by Covenant Odedele, the Students’ Union President.
The update recognized that despite these efforts, some students remain genuinely unable to access financial aid, the UI’SU emphasized the need for targeted support.
“It is on this note that we are offering need-based bursaries to support students who fall into this category and, by now, have not yet been able to pay their fees,” the update clarified.
The UI’SU Bursary Scheme is open to all indigent students of the University of Ibadan. Applications are currently being accepted via Google Form.
Interested students are strongly advised to apply promptly, as the deadline for submissions is Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at 11:59 PM West African Time.
Furthermore, it was stated in the WhatsApp status update that the union was able to successfully collaborate with the university management in securing the commitment of NELFUND to allow two tranches of applications and to ensure disbursement before the deadline date, further easing financial burdens on students.
Students who have not yet paid their fees and completed their course registration are urged to do so as soon as possible before the June 27th deadline, taking advantage of the waived late fee charge.
