I had given up on myself for a long time due to the weight of my past failures
Pains, regrets and vengeance became my closest companions
Setback was no longer my word; it became my identity
I could see the light ahead, but blurry and unreachable it was
With my trembling hands, I saw my future slip away
Though I tried reaching, it wasn’t easy as I only hurt more
This left fresh wounds on my old scars
Everything I’d ever dreamt of suddenly became a shadow to me
My personality got downgraded as I saw myself less
Inferiority complex, incapability and the likes became my qualities
I was just this quiet, cold person
With a heart full of silent cries and lips that hardly smiled
Then came the breaking point
Made my jaw drop, heart freeze, and world collapse
When life handed me the letter tagged “low self-esteem”
I literally saw myself as a failure and a shadow of my being
It was so obvious that I could no longer make it
Inferiority clouded my sky that I began to see darkness over my light
Then something happened
The light split from the dark
And for the first time in decades, I felt a spark of hope within me
I saw my future self-shining brightly again
A course of energy began to rise from my broken spirit
Strength that had long left me became awakened
Motivation returned like a long friend
Everything that had fallen apart and crumbled were being molded again
I saw myself stronger, wiser, bold and courageous
My fragile heart was being revived again
I heard the beat of hope again
A captivating sound to my ears
My future is no longer slipping away
It is shining
Though not an easy process
I followed it carefully
I walked through it step-by-step
And I ran with all my power that has been refueled
