FACULTY EXCECUTIVES AND PROMISES

I could recall vividly during the last session’s political campaigns when the present excecutives were presenting their projects and plans during their manifesto night and press night, they all came with seaminly pleasing innovations and ideas to easily convince us to dance to their tunes. Starting from the lowest ranked to the highest ranked excecutives, our bellies were filled with the a lot of “this and that” they would do for the members of this great faculty, everything looks feasible and was as good as it was said during their manifestos. But what assurance do we have to see all these promises being fulfilled? Did you think of the feasibility of your plan by looking at your capacity, the pocket and standard of your faculty as well as the “pros and cons” that might come your way during your administration? On this note, I will like to ask the present excecutives which make up the faculty’s administration, if they still feel they could fullfil all their plans before this administration ends?

We had seen administrations failing to successfully carry out at least one third of their projected plans during their campaigns. They only come before the election with bundle of printed papers consisting of their long listed plans and projects, but when the election ends and were elected to their desired positions, they would feel relieved and forget the promises they made before the election. May be they failed to understand that faculty of Renewable Natural Resources encompasses intellectuals who are conscious of what they promised us, or they think political positions is where you only giggle, smile, say “Hi” and shake hands with the members of the faculty. Some may still have the energy to carry out their plans and fulfill all promises made, but when the reality is down on them where they got to realize that the faculty does not have a printing machine to vomit all the funds they needed for all the activities they had in mind, they may seek for sponsors which in many cases will not near the budget of all their plans, this leaves them with no other option than to forfeit some of the plans and go with the easier ones.

When going for political positions do not only think of plans for the sake of showing that you have plenty plans, rather, think of plans with the best impact but requires less funding, the feasibility of your plan is very important. Don’t promise to do what you know is way beyond what the faculty afford. Some may say they have an uncle as sponsor for their projects that requires big money, what if the table turns and was unable to get the money from the uncle? The plans are gone. Some would even say they have sponsors like Coca Cola, UNICEF e.t.c. Significant number of people like these end up not carrying out their projected plans. Their actions are similudes to the case of Nigeria politicians, they have penchant to tell lies and employ deception in order to get votes from the people. Focus only on things you have the capacity to deliver on, if elected, not on bogus plans with zero feasibility.

This is just to remind our able political leaders of the faculty, the promises they made to all the members of this faculty when contesting for positions last session. It is your time to make this faculty better than before, you can make it happen.
